[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) has been selected for 10 consecutive years as a startup support institution for the Gwangju-Jeonnam region under the "Social Entrepreneur Development Project" organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency.
According to Gwangju University on the 10th, the "Social Entrepreneur Development Project" is a system that systematically supports the entire process of social enterprise startups by recruiting early-stage startup teams with government funding, providing startup spaces and funds, operating mentoring and education programs, resource linkage, and designating (preliminary) social enterprises.
Following this selection, Gwangju University plans to recruit participants until the 30th of next month and provide differential support ranging from 15 million KRW to a maximum of 50 million KRW per team according to the project details.
Applications can be submitted through the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency's "Social Enterprise Integrated Information System" website application window or by visiting the Gwangju University Social Enterprise Project Group.
Eligibility requires the intention to continuously operate a social enterprise, and teams that have not started a business or have been established for less than three years as of the application deadline are eligible.
Also, teams of three or more aiming for (preliminary) social enterprise certification can apply.
Gwangju University started the Social Entrepreneur Development Project in 2014 and received the "Excellent Support Institution Award" from the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency in 2015 and 2018.
In particular, until 2022, it has nurtured a total of 158 startup teams, producing excellent results such as 29 certified social enterprise teams and 89 regional and ministry-type preliminary social enterprise teams.
Meanwhile, Gwangju University will hold project briefing sessions at 2 p.m. on the 12th and 26th in the Startup Education Room on the 2nd floor of the Personality Hall at Gwangju University.
Additionally, briefing sessions will be held at 2 p.m. on the 13th at the meeting room of Dreaming People Co., Ltd. in Suncheon, Jeonnam, and at 2 p.m. on the 18th at Saehyang Ecological Farm Agricultural Corporation (Ltd.) in Goheung, Jeonnam. These sessions will provide guidance on how to apply for participation in the Social Entrepreneur Development Project, eligibility, required documents, and the startup team selection process.
