Symphony of Subtle Lights at Yi Sun-sin Bridge, Haebyeon Park, and Gubongsan Observatory
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Gwangyang City in Jeonnam announced that it is attracting attention by recommending night view spots that stimulate emotions and offer special moments, such as Sunshine Beach Park, Yi Sun-sin Bridge, and Gubongsan Observatory.
Gwangyang boasts beautiful scenery and brilliant night views befitting its tourism slogan, "Gwangyang Trip Shining Day and Night."
In particular, the winter nights, when the cold and dry weather makes the atmosphere clear, are the perfect season to enjoy the sparkling Gwangyang night view, as if sprinkled with silver powder.
Sunshine Beach Park unfolds a fantastic symphony of light, drawing beautiful melodies with Kumho Bridge, Gilho Railroad Bridge, Gilho Bridge, Yi Sun-sin Bridge connecting bridge, and the coastline.
The light soaking into the gently rippling waves of Gwangyang Bay excites the hearts of viewers and harmonizes with Rainbow Bridge, Haeoreum Overpass, and others to complete a subtle urban nightscape.
Yi Sun-sin Bridge, called the "Harp" made of steel, is loved by citizens and tourists for its graceful figure and nighttime scenery decorating Gwangyang Bay.
Boasting the title of the first 100% domestically developed suspension bridge, Yi Sun-sin Bridge connects Gwangyang and Yeosu with a total length of 2,260m and four lanes for two-way traffic.
The distance between the main towers, 1,545m, corresponds to the birth year of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and ranks fourth in the world, following Japan's Akashi Kaiky? Bridge (1,991m), China's Xihou Bridge (1,650m), and Denmark's Great Belt Bridge (1,624m).
The height of the main towers, 270m, is 16m taller than Denmark's Great Belt Bridge, which held the record at the time, setting a new world record for concrete towers.
Gubongsan Observatory, established as a landmark of Gwangyang, also boasts a brilliant night view worthy of the "Top 100 Night Views" by the Korea Tourism Organization.
Climbing the winding path to the summit at 473m above sea level reveals a panoramic view of Gwangyang Port, Yi Sun-sin Bridge, Gwangyang Steelworks, and, in the distance, Suncheon, Hadong, and Namhae.
As you get absorbed in the red sunset falling over Gwangyang Bay, dusk quickly arrives, and the silver-lit metal art beacon transforms into a brilliant golden light, emitting a mysterious aura.
The dynamic sites of life?Gwangyang Port, Yi Sun-sin Bridge, and Gwangyang Steelworks?also form a milky way of light, sparkling with sun glints.
Jung Gu-young, head of the Tourism Division, said, "If you want to see the true face of a city, you must travel its alleys and nighttime."
He added, "Winter, when the sun sets early, is a great season to enjoy romantic sunsets and night views. The night views of Gwangyang shining day and night will gift special moments that add to your inner scenery."
