[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Mercury, a specialized information and communication equipment company, announced on the 10th that it exhibited a Wi-Fi 7 wired and wireless router at CES 2023 in collaboration with KT and MediaTek.
This wired and wireless router applies the latest Wi-Fi standard, Wi-Fi 7, supporting fast and stable connections for many applications such as video calls, 4K/8K TV entertainment, real-time gaming, and streaming.
Wi-Fi 7 significantly enhances the Wi-Fi user experience by utilizing a 320MHz channel bandwidth and 4096-QAM modulation in the 6GHz frequency band. Additionally, through the Multi-Link Operation (MLO) feature that simultaneously connects two different frequency channels (2.4GHz and 6GHz), it can mitigate link interruptions in congested wireless environments.
The exhibited product uses MediaTek’s latest Filogic chip, which combines Wi-Fi 7 access point technology for ultra-high-speed internet service providers, general consumers, and the enterprise market.
A Mercury official stated, “This Wi-Fi 7 wired and wireless router is the next model following Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E, and it is Mercury’s next strategic product that led the domestic market up to Wi-Fi 6E. Mercury will continue research and development on the Wi-Fi 7 product developed this time and commercialize it in the second half of 2023 to lead the Wi-Fi AP market.”
