[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Park Hong-geun, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 10th regarding Lee Jae-myung, the party leader, appearing for a prosecution summons in connection with the Seongnam FC case, "If Lee were a private individual, would the Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution have acted so ruthlessly and to this extent?"

After seeing off Lee, who appeared for the summons at the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office Seongnam Branch, Park said, "I watched Lee's direct appearance at the prosecution with a heavy yet angry heart."

He added, "Because Lee Jae-myung is not just an individual but a presidential contender, the leader of the opposition party correcting their incompetence and mismanagement, they have deployed prosecutors and investigators in a way unprecedented in Korean history and even world history, conducting nearly 300 searches in a frenzy to eliminate a political rival. From the perspective of the ruling party, the Democratic Party, we strongly protest this prosecutorial republic and prosecutorial dictatorship."

Park explained, "Even looking only at the Seongnam FC case, which was already closed with no charges, after the presidential election ended, they have dragged it back out and are proceeding with a predetermined indictment process. We understand the situation this way," adding, "In the face of the ruthless prosecution's blade against Lee, our Democratic Party lawmakers define this as a retaliatory investigation against Lee Jae-myung, not as an individual but as a presidential contender and opposition party leader, and that is why we are here."

He said, "Not only the Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution but also the People Power Party keeps mentioning Lee and rejoicing. The ruling party, which has become a partner with the prosecution, must also face the judgment of the people," continuing, "I believe Lee responded to the prosecution investigation with confidence and will properly explain himself. Together with party members, we will do our best to overcome this unjust situation."
