[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The city travel entertainment content promoting the charm of ‘Busan,’ the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo, will be broadcast worldwide through popular online video streaming service (OTT) platforms such as ‘Amazon Prime Video’ and ‘Watcha.’

Online video streaming services (OTT) are online video services that provide media content such as broadcast programs and movies through the open internet.

On the 10th at 2 p.m., Busan City will sign a business agreement for ‘Cooperation to Support the Hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo’ with Ted Entertainment (CEO Kim Tae-geon) at the City Hall International Protocol Room.

Ted Entertainment is a production and broadcasting company of the city travel entertainment content ‘Romantic City (#Nangmandosi),’ which promotes the charm of major cities worldwide.

Last September, they produced Romantic City Season 1 (#Thailand Edition) and have been broadcasting it on eight popular OTT platforms including ‘Amazon Prime Video’ and ‘Watcha,’ promoting the tourism appeal of the cities.

This agreement was prepared to expand the support base for the 2030 Busan World Expo both domestically and internationally and to maximize promotional effects by producing and broadcasting content that promotes Busan, the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo, through popular OTT platforms.

Upon signing the agreement, the city and Ted Entertainment will produce ‘Romantic City (#Busan Edition),’ a sequel to ‘Romantic City Season 1,’ promoting the charm of Busan as a city and its capabilities as a global hub city to host the 2030 World Expo, and broadcast it on OTT platforms.

The specific contents of the agreement include ▲ production and domestic and international broadcasting and promotion of promotional content for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid ▲ cooperation and support for forming consensus on the bid using famous celebrities ▲ and other cooperation to support the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.

The city expects that since the current OTT platforms broadcasting ‘Romantic City’ have about 300 million viewers and with the recent global spread of the Korean Wave due to K-content hits like ‘Squid Game,’ the upcoming ‘Romantic City (#Busan Edition)’ will also attract significant global attention.

As OTT services are led by the younger generation, it is anticipated that this content will naturally expose the future-oriented international event, the 2030 World Expo, and the city brand of Busan to future generations who are contemplating a better future in this era of global transformation.

The city will actively cooperate with Ted Entertainment in producing the Romantic City content to further highlight Busan’s strengths as an eco-friendly smart future city, focusing on reducing carbon emissions, enhancing urban sustainability and resilience, and will make every effort to effectively promote the ‘2030 Busan World Expo’ and ‘Busan.’

‘Romantic City (#Busan Edition)’ will immediately begin casting and planning work from this month, and full-scale filming will start from late March to early April, coinciding with the visit of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) onsite inspection team, aiming to maximize the enthusiasm for Busan’s bid.

It is scheduled to be simultaneously broadcast on about ten OTT platforms as early as early July, and overseas promotional events are planned starting in September.

Kim Tae-geon, CEO of Ted Entertainment, said, “Ted Entertainment is an independent production company producing city travel entertainment content called Romantic City and broadcasting it through OTT platforms. Through this agreement, we are very pleased to produce ‘Romantic City (#Busan Edition)’ to widely promote not only Busan’s tourist attractions but also that Busan is the optimal site as the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo. We ask for the citizens’ great interest and encouragement.”

Lee Seong-gwon, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Busan City, said, “We are very grateful that Ted Entertainment is providing comprehensive support for the promotion of the 2030 Busan World Expo bid. Once ‘Romantic City (#Busan Edition)’ is produced and broadcast worldwide, it is expected to effectively promote Busan’s charm and hosting capabilities as the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo to people around the world, leveraging the elevated international status and popularity of K-content, and contribute to forming a global consensus for the bid.”

Deputy Mayor Lee Seong-gwon of Busan City and CEO Kim Tae-geon of Ted Entertainment will attend the business agreement ceremony in person and sign the agreement.
