Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, attended the first fish auction ceremony and the bountiful catch festival held at the Sokcheon Wholesale Market of Jinhae Fisheries Cooperative.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, attended the first auction ceremony and fishing festival held at the Jinhae Fisheries Cooperative Sokcheon Auction Market at 5 a.m. on the 10th to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.
The first auction ceremony is an event to pray for a bountiful catch and the safety of fishermen before the first auction of the new year. About 150 people attended the event, including Mayor Hong, Labor Jin, head of Jinhae Fisheries Cooperative, Myung Nohun, head of Masan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, provincial and city council members, and fishermen.
A variety of events were held, including awarding certificates of commendation and plaques of appreciation to meritorious fishermen for marine and fisheries policy achievements and contributors to the development of the fisheries cooperative, a fishing festival praying for a bountiful catch and safety, a raffle, and an auction demonstration.
Mayor Hong said, “We will do our best to play a leading role in the growth of fishing villages through the establishment of fisheries infrastructure and modernization of fishing villages and ports.”
