[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Kim Jin-yong, head of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA), currently on a business trip to the United States to attract overseas investment, signed a Letter of Cooperation (LOC) with ITDP (Imagine That Design & Production), a media art event specialist company.

According to IFEZA on the 10th, Kim met with Rick Harbour, chairman of ITDP, in Las Vegas on the 6th (local time) and signed the LOC. They agreed to cooperate on developing entertainment shows for structures and facilities using media art within the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) and enhancing nighttime scenery.

Kim said, "The signing of the Letter of Cooperation is significant as it represents joining forces to develop entertainment and tourism products related to IFEZ," adding, "We will concretize this to further develop IFEZ's cultural and tourism content."

The next day, Kim attended CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2023 in Las Vegas, the world's largest exhibition for home appliances, information and communication technology (ICT), content, and entertainment sectors. He focused on discovering companies and expanding networks to attract content investments suited to post-COVID-19 era trends, especially among IT, CT, and gaming industry specialized companies.

He also visited exhibition spaces of companies residing in the Incheon Startup Park participating in CES to encourage them and discuss support measures.

Following this, as part of efforts to develop Incheon as a Northeast Asia tourism hub, Kim visited global integrated resorts B and C in Las Vegas, the home of the MICE and tourism industries, to strengthen the competitiveness of the Yeongjong complex resort cluster. He actively explained investment opportunities within the Incheon Free Economic Zone and discussed mutual cooperation plans.

Additionally, he held meetings with executives from global media content companies D and E, requesting their continued interest and investment in Incheon, which is poised to become a center for media and cultural content industries.

Meanwhile, during his business trip, Kim met with Kim Byung-jik, president of the Federation of Korean Associations in the Americas, and Korean residents to seek support for attracting the Overseas Koreans Office to Incheon.

At the meeting, President Kim stated, "The Overseas Koreans Office should be located in Incheon, an international city with an international airport and port (cruise terminal), to ensure convenient access for overseas Koreans when entering and leaving the country and to serve as a practical business hub," adding, "We will gather opinions from the Korean community and support the city of Incheon."

Previously, the Federation of Korean Associations in Europe, representing 25 European countries and 300,000 members, 13 Korean-American organizations in Hawaii, and the official Korean association in Uzbekistan, the Koryoin Association, officially expressed their support for attracting the Overseas Koreans Office to Incheon.

Last October, the Korean government finalized a government organization restructuring plan that includes establishing the Overseas Koreans Office and abolishing the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. Currently, Incheon, along with Daejeon, Jeju, Gwangju, and Ansan City in Gyeonggi Province, is competing to host the Overseas Koreans Office.
