[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Yangsan City in Gyeongnam announced the establishment of a comprehensive job policy plan for the 8th local government term, aiming to become a dynamic economic city abundant with young talent and jobs.

On the 9th, Yangsan City set the ‘Regional Job Target Disclosure System Comprehensive Plan’ for the 8th local government term and announced that it will achieve an employment rate of 65.8% by 2026 through attracting large corporations to create quality jobs.

The Regional Job Target Disclosure System is a regional employment activation policy whereby the head of a local government presents job targets and measures to achieve those targets to the residents of the area, in accordance with Article 9-2 of the Employment Policy Act, and implements them.

The ‘Comprehensive Job Policy Plan’ is an overall report on regional job-related initiatives to be promoted from 2023 to 2026, comprehensively containing key tasks for fulfilling the job pledges of the 9th mayor of Yangsan, as well as labor supply and demand policies considering regional and industrial characteristics.

Under the job vision of ‘a dynamic economic city abundant with young talent and jobs,’ Yangsan City has selected 10 core tasks centered on two main strategies: ‘an economically vibrant city with many jobs’ and ‘fostering an innovative growth future industry city,’ striving to achieve an employment rate of 65.8%.

Among the six core tasks, the city plans to operate an investment and startup complex to attract large corporations to create jobs in the Wongsang and Sangbuk industrial complexes.

It will promote customized education and training tailored to local industries to resolve job mismatches and provide customized jobs, and will also implement revitalization projects according to the characteristics of commercial districts such as traditional markets in Jeungsan and the old downtown area.

Additionally, support for employment and economic activities will be provided by generation and class for vulnerable employment groups such as youth, middle-aged, women, and elderly; employment promotion and corporate support will be conducted through selecting excellent job-creating companies; and startup support will be carried out through the construction of knowledge industry centers and development of startup programs to create new industry jobs.

Furthermore, the city will promote ▲establishment of a support base for innovative technology in local industries ▲creation of a specialized medical cluster in the southeastern region ▲strengthening corporate growth through demand-oriented enterprise support ▲expansion of infrastructure for upgrading core industries and fostering new industries.

In particular, the city plans to focus on creating a southeastern bio-health specialized complex and upgrading core industries and discovering new industries to create quality jobs and secure continuous growth engines.

Mayor Na Dong-yeon of Yangsan said, “We will do our best not only to resolve job mismatches and support public jobs for vulnerable groups but also to build a foundation for sustainable private job creation through attracting large corporations and fostering new industries.”
