Male World Ranking: McIlroy 1st, Scheffler 2nd
‘PGA star’ Kim Joo-hyung (photo) has risen to 14th in the world rankings.
On the afternoon of the 8th (local time), Kim Joo-hyung received 4.3093 points in the men's golf world rankings, moving up one spot from 15th place last week. Jordan Spieth (USA), who had attended a Christmas party together last winter, dropped from 14th to 15th.
Kim Joo-hyung earned points by finishing tied for 5th place (22 under par, 270 strokes) at the Sentry Tournament of Champions (TOC, total prize money $15 million), the first event of the 2022/2023 PGA Tour season, held at the Kapalua Plantation Course (par 73, 7,596 yards) on Maui Island, Hawaii.
There were no changes in the top ranks. Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) remains 1st, Scottie Scheffler (USA) 2nd, Cameron Smith (Australia) 3rd, Patrick Cantlay (USA) 4th, and ‘TOC champion’ Jon Rahm (Spain) held 5th place. In Korea, Im Sung-jae maintained 19th place, and Lee Kyung-hoon, who performed well with a tie for 7th at the TOC, jumped two spots to 36th. Kim Si-woo is 84th, Kim Bi-o 128th, and Kim Sung-hyun 139th.
