[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, attended the ‘Snow Shoveling Poster Contest Award Ceremony’ held at 10 a.m. on the 9th in the Open Participation Room of the district office to encourage the winners.


This contest targeted elementary school students in the area, focusing on snow shoveling in front of their homes and stores. After local judging, 19 works were selected. The winning works will be used for snow shoveling promotional booklets and posters in the future.


At the award ceremony, Mayor Lee presented awards to eight winners: one grand prize, three excellence awards, and four encouragement awards. After the ceremony, he spent time appreciating the displayed works with the winners in the lobby on the first floor of the district office.


Mayor Lee Gijae said, “I thank all participants, including the students who won today. I hope this contest will serve as an opportunity to widely spread the awareness of snow shoveling in front of our homes and stores.”

Haesung Academy Foundation Donates Warm Winter Fund

Donated Entire 11 Million KRW Prize from 2022 Private School Institution Operation Evaluation ‘Comprehensive Excellent Institution’ Award

Also Donated Full Prize in 2016 and 2019... Continuing Love Sharing for Neighbors in Need in the Community



Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that at 10:30 a.m. on the 9th, it held a donation ceremony for the ‘2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ love fund with Haesung Academy Foundation (Haesung Girls’ High School, Haesung International Convention High School) located in the area, receiving a donation of 11 million KRW.


The ceremony was attended by Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, Ham In-sook, Auditor of Haesung Academy, Seo Eun-jung, Principal of Haesung Girls’ High School, and Jang Seok-jae, Vice Principal of Haesung International Convention High School.


Haesung Academy was selected as a ‘Comprehensive Excellent Institution’ (Overall Excellence Award) in the 2022 Private School Institution Operation Evaluation conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education for private school foundations operating elementary and secondary schools. They donated the entire prize money of 11 million KRW to help neighbors in need in the community.


Haesung Academy was also selected as a comprehensive excellent institution in the 2016 and 2019 evaluations, donating the entire prize money of 3.93 million KRW and 8 million KRW respectively to support neighbors in need in the area.


Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I thank Haesung Academy for not only raising the status of local schools by receiving good evaluations in the private school institution operation evaluation but also practicing the spirit of sharing for neighbors. The donated fund will be used meaningfully to help neighbors in need during the cold winter.”

Gwangjin-gu Holds Christian Federation New Year Worship Service... Donates 10 Million KRW for Neighbors in Need



Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held a New Year worship service hosted by the Christian Federation on the 9th at the Gwangjin-gu Office cafeteria to welcome 2023.


About 70 people attended, including executives and members of the Gwangjin-gu Christian Federation, Mayor Kim Kyung-ho, and Christian missionary members of the district office.


The ceremony was held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, including a New Year worship praying for the safety and prosperity of Gwangjin-gu citizens, awarding certificates of commendation, presenting plaques of appreciation, and donating funds for neighbors in need.


First, Pastor Im Seok-soon, president of the Christian Federation, awarded certificates of commendation to Garogyeonggwan and Team Leader Park Young-mae for exemplary public service. Then, Mayor Kim Kyung-ho presented a plaque of appreciation to Pastor Im Seok-soon.


Finally, the Gwangjin-gu Christian Federation donated 10 million KRW collected to help neighbors in need to the Gwangjin-gu Office.


The donated 10 million KRW will be used through the Gwangjin-gu Welfare Foundation to support marginalized residents in the area.


Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “I sincerely thank the Gwangjin-gu Christian Federation for practicing sharing with the heart of ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ during difficult times. The precious donation will greatly help residents facing hardships.”

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Chairs 2023 Major Business Plan Report Meeting


Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the 2023 Major Business Plan Report Meeting held on the 6th floor auditorium of Nowon-gu Office on the 9th morning.


This meeting was arranged so that all employees could attend within the scope of avoiding work gaps and communicate frankly with the mayor directly.


Employees introduced themselves, reported on team tasks, presented major new year projects, and held a Q&A session.


Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “It is good to have this time to face and communicate with all employees. I hope you will join me toward a cultural city Nowon that looks forward to tomorrow in the new year. Especially, I ask you to actively establish a comprehensive management system for each department’s tasks to minimize administrative blind spots.”

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Communicates Directly with Residents at Dong Business Report Meeting



Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, continues his communication efforts with residents without fail this year as well.


On the 9th, to welcome the new year, Mayor Kim held a ‘Dong Business Report Meeting with Residents’ to review local issues and, above all, listen more closely to residents’ voices.


On the first day of the meeting, he rushed to Yeomchang-dong Community Center in the morning, met local residents including the senior citizens’ lounge president, heads of civic groups, and neighborhood leaders, listened to their suggestions, and had a time of direct communication.


In particular, he revealed the core values of the 8th elected term and the future direction of district administration, expressing a strong will to achieve ‘balanced regional development’ and ‘a happy Gangseo for all residents.’


After the morning session, Mayor Kim visited Deungchon 1-dong and Gayang 3-dong community centers in the afternoon to hear vivid voices from the field and directly address local issues.


Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “From daily inconveniences reported through this business report meeting to mid- and long-term local issues requiring review, I will carefully manage every single one without neglect. I will continue to do my best to listen to residents’ inconveniences on site and resolve them promptly.”


The business report meetings started at Yeomchang-dong Community Center on this day and will continue until February 20. Mayor Kim plans to visit all 20 dong community centers in sequence to carry out communication activities.
