[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Changnyeong County in Gyeongnam announced on the 9th that the county administration will be operated under the authority of Deputy County Governor Cho Hyun-hong until the next county governor is elected and inaugurated in a by-election due to the sudden death of the late County Governor Kim Bu-young.
According to the Local Autonomy Act, when the head of a local government is vacant, the deputy head of the local government acts on behalf of the head.
Following the vacancy of the Changnyeong County Governor position, Acting Governor Cho held an emergency meeting with key executives at 11:30 a.m. on the 9th, and at 2 p.m., convened all senior officials including those from the main office and townships in the county administration meeting room to discuss measures to prevent administrative gaps and establish public service discipline.
Acting Governor Cho stated, “I urge the strong and flawless execution of the tasks planned for 2023, while strengthening safety measures for the residents. In particular, we will accelerate the progress of major county projects, focus on field-centered administration, and ensure that no residents are left out during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday by implementing outreach welfare administration.”
Acting Governor Cho was appointed Deputy County Governor of Changnyeong County on December 30, 2022, and is known as an administrative expert, having served as Director of the Eco-friendly Agriculture Division and Director of the Agricultural Policy Division in Gyeongsangnam-do.
