[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Dongbu Construction has pledged to create a safe workplace while achieving its annual goals for the new year 2023.

Dongbu Construction announced on the 9th that it held a "2023 Goal Achievement and Safety Prayer Hike" on the 6th.

About 160 executives and employees participated in the hike, which was conducted by division, including Vice Chairman and CEO Heo Sang-hee and newly appointed President Yoon Jin-oh. They strengthened unity while praying for the achievement of this year's management goals and accident-free operations. As part of its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management, plogging activities for nature conservation were also carried out.

President Yoon emphasized, "Let us leap forward as the industry's leading company with the best competitiveness in all aspects through thorough safety management and solid achievement of performance goals. Even amid the recession, I hope everyone will do their best in their respective roles with a mindset faithful to basics and principles and full immersion in their work."

Dongbu Construction built up an order backlog worth about 8 trillion won, equivalent to seven years' worth of work, last year. Among this, it secured about 700 billion won in public construction projects, ranking second in the industry, and achieved approximately 355.1 billion won in orders solely from technology-based bidding markets.

Additionally, it stood out in safety and health management by achieving a perfect score of 100 in industrial accident prevention activities and receiving a very excellent grade in safety management level evaluations. Notably, it achieved zero major industrial accidents for two consecutive years, following 2021.

A Dongbu Construction official said, "Despite the difficult environment last year, the unity of executives and employees demonstrated the strength to achieve sales and safety goals. This year as well, we will do our best to turn crises into opportunities and grow further through solid management."
