[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced that in a regular public opinion survey on Busan education policy conducted in December last year, 88.1% of respondents expressed the opinion that 'morning physical activities at school' are necessary.

This survey asked the opinions of 1,500 Busan citizens (including 476 parents) regarding the 'morning physical activities' promoted by the Busan Office of Education.

Looking closely at the survey results, ▲'Necessary' for morning physical activities was the highest at 61.8% (927 people), followed by ▲'Very necessary' at 26.3% (395 people), and ▲'Not necessary' at 9.5% (143 people).

The main reason for the opinion that morning physical activities are necessary was that 'a healthy physical condition helps reduce stress, clears the mind, and aids academic performance.'

Kim Beomgyu, Director of the Physical Education and Health Division at the Busan Office of Education, said, “The three basic principles of the morning physical activity policy are ‘zero workload for staff,’ ‘field-centered model establishment,’ and ‘autonomy in operation methods.’ The Busan Office of Education will actively support school requests to create a healthy Busan education.”

Ha Yunsu, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “We will transform Busan education so that students can grow into future leaders with balanced development in physical, moral, and intellectual aspects,” adding, “We will carefully ensure that staff workload does not increase and create an autonomous system centered on the field and tailored to the characteristics of each school.”
