[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Kim Bu-young, the mayor of Changnyeong County, Gyeongnam, who was under investigation for violating the Public Official Election Act, was found dead in a mountain forest.

According to the police on the 9th, Mayor Kim was found around 9:40 a.m. in a mountain forest near Hwawangsan in Changnyeong. Mayor Kim had taken a day off and did not go to the county office that day. He had been indicted for violating the Public Official Election Act and passed away while undergoing trial.

Kim Bu-young, the mayor of Changnyeong County, took office on July 1 last year.

The police are continuing the investigation into various possibilities, including the possibility of an extreme choice.

Meanwhile, Mayor Kim ran as a People Power Party candidate in the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections last year and was elected with 49.59% of the vote in the Changnyeong mayoral election.
