[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] LG Innotek attracted 20,000 visitors to its booth at the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition CES 2023, calling it a "successful debut" on the 9th. In particular, the autonomous driving safety module 'Sensor Fusion' drew strong customer responses, raising expectations that it will significantly enhance global brand recognition.
The company explained that visitors flocked to the booth from the opening on the first day of CES, January 5 (local time). This year was the first time the booth was opened to the general public after previously holding private exhibitions, and over 20,000 visitors were recorded over the four days.
The highlight was the autonomous driving electronic components. Sixteen types of parts were installed in the booth's central model according to their actual future vehicle mounting positions, which reportedly was a big hit. It was effective not only because parts were displayed but also because technologies such as optics, substrates, and electronic components were gathered together.
Especially, the newly introduced 'Sensor Fusion' solution was very popular. It was created by combining the advantages of a camera module made with the world's top optical technology and a radar module equipped with cutting-edge electronic technology.
For autonomous vehicles, accurately detecting objects even in bad weather is essential. Verifying technological competitiveness in safety is also an industry challenge. LG Innotek believes Sensor Fusion will play a major role in solving safety issues.
High value-added flip-chip ball grid array (FC-BGA) substrates and eco-friendly power solutions also attracted visitors' attention. The company self-assessed that through Sensor Fusion and FC-BGA substrates, it effectively demonstrated how advanced its business portfolio has become.
There were many visitors asking about the value and importance of components inside devices. LG Innotek prepared experiential exhibition content throughout the booth to satisfy visitors' curiosity. For example, visitors were invited to stack blocks themselves to complete an FC-BGA substrate.
Laurent Canal, who came from France to see CES, said, "It was impressive to easily understand the principles of semiconductor substrate technology, which had seemed difficult, by experiencing it as a game."
Min Jon, Executive Director of Product Strategy who planned the exhibition, explained, "We wanted to convey the message that future innovative products are determined by 'components' by taking out various parts inside smartphones and cars that the general public usually cannot see and displaying them."
Securing potential customers was also meaningful. An LG Innotek official said, "The number of confirmed customer meetings before the exhibition doubled compared to previous years," adding, "More than 100 meetings were arranged on the spot at the booth, so CES is expected to play a positive role in securing potential customers and expanding orders."
President Jung Cheoldong said, "This CES became an important opportunity to showcase LG Innotek's advanced technological competitiveness to the world," and added, "We will continue to focus on creating differentiated customer value as a global leading materials and components company."
