Naver 'Clova Care Call' Checks on Weather Disaster Safety for Single-Person Households

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Naver's AI check-in call service for middle-aged and elderly single-person households, 'Clova Care Call,' is launching a purpose-driven conversation service focused on weather disasters.

On the 9th, Naver announced that it has introduced a purpose-driven check-in conversation feature in Clova Care Call that verifies damage and provides safety guidelines to households receiving calls based on disaster texts from local governments and other authorities.

The weather disaster check-in conversation is conducted naturally within the context of everyday check-in conversations when Clova Care Call makes a call during weather disaster situations such as cold waves, heavy snow, heatwaves, or heavy rain, and disaster texts have been sent. The conversation reflects the specific weather conditions.

Clova Care Call applies its self-developed 'purpose-driven free conversation' technology. This new technology combines large-scale AI 'HyperClova'-based free conversation with purpose-driven dialogue, enabling the system to maintain a natural flow of conversation while performing specific tasks such as disaster notifications, safety guideline announcements, and damage verification.

For example, during an everyday check-in conversation where the AI asks, "How will you spend the rest of your day?" and the user replies, "It's cold, so I plan to stay home," the AI responds, "Ah, there was a cold wave warning today. Please be careful of frozen water pipes and dress warmly," thereby notifying the user of the cold wave situation and providing related lifestyle guidelines.

Clova Care Call has received positive feedback from users due to its natural conversations. Since August last year, it has added a 'Remembering' feature, where the AI recalls past conversations with users and utilizes them in subsequent calls, offering a more personalized conversation experience. The accuracy of the Remembering feature reaches approximately 97%, and since its introduction, users have been more actively discussing their health and personal situations during calls with Clova Care Call.

Naver expects that using Clova Care Call will further improve the work efficiency of local governments and related organizations that provide care for elderly living alone and middle-aged single-person households. Currently, Clova Care Call collaborates with over 40 local governments nationwide, providing AI check-in call services in regions including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Busan, and Gwangju. Going forward, the service plans to expand the topics of care conversations to include medication guidance and welfare benefit notifications.

Jung Seok-geun, CSO of Naver Cloud, said, "Based on Clova Care Call's excellent free conversation technology, we have added a purpose-driven conversation feature that enables local governments to more effectively perform care duties for vulnerable groups in special situations such as disasters. We will expand the topics of purpose-driven conversations to various care notifications to increase Clova Care Call's utilization as an 'AI welfare worker'."
