Opening the Era of a 1 Trillion Won Budget for the First Time Since Establishment, Presenting 2023 District Administration Directions and Vision Including Public Education Development, Residential Environment Improvement, and Welfare Enhancement

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held the 2023 New Year's Greeting event with about 500 residents at the Jungnang Community Center Grand Auditorium at 3 PM on the 6th, marking a vigorous start to the Year of the Black Rabbit.

Returning to an in-person format after 3 years, this New Year's Greeting event was organized as a time to exchange New Year's greetings with residents and share the 2023 district administration directions and vision.

The event was held under the theme "A Happy Jungnang-gu, a Truly Good Place to Live for Jungnang Residents."

Since its establishment in 1988, the district announced its ambition to create a better living environment in Jungnang-gu by opening the era of a 1 trillion won budget for the first time and investing in various fields such as education, residential development, welfare, and resident participation activation. This year, the education expenses for improving the educational environment in Jungnang-gu amount to 10 billion won. Following the Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center, which has received high praise from students and parents, the district plans to build a second Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center and aims to become Seoul's top public education city.

Currently, there are a total of 18 housing development sites in the area, including Moa Town. Among Seoul's autonomous districts, Jungnang ranks first in development area and second in the number of sites, with active housing development projects underway. The district has also established a dedicated housing development department called the "Housing Development Promotion Team" with the goal of further advancing housing development to improve the pleasant residential environment. It plans to improve aging housing and expand infrastructure such as parking lots, roads, and parks to create a better city to live in.

Additionally, the district did not forget its promise to promote welfare to enhance the happiness of Jungnang residents. It allocates 57% of the total budget to welfare, supporting senior centers, expanding senior job opportunities, enlarging barrier-free forest trails, establishing schools for the disabled, improving childcare environments, and aims to become a warm and healthy welfare city.

Wishing for the health and happiness of Jungnang residents and greater development of Jungnang-gu in 2023, attendees watched a video containing residents' New Year's wishes and shouted together the slogan "Jungnang-gu Fighting! Jungnang Residents Fighting!" to foster unity.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, "I am glad to meet residents in person and hold the New Year's Greeting event after 3 years. I am proud of the warm and compassionate Jungnang residents who roll up their sleeves to help neighbors in need, join in cleaning alleys every dawn, and participate in snow removal when it snows."

He added, "There are people who take an active interest in neighborhood affairs as if they were their own, so I expect Jungnang-gu to make a greater leap in 2023. This year, I will do my best to create a happier city that residents can be proud of."

Seoul Gangseo-gu (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) will hold the '2023 New Year's Greeting Event' at 4 PM on the 11th at the Ujang Hall of Gangseo Community Center to announce this year's district administration aspirations.

Held for the first time in 3 years, this event welcomes the Year of the Black Rabbit and gathers various figures including members of the National Assembly, local party committee chairs, city and district council members, institution heads, and residents to share Gangseo-gu's district administration directions and vision.

The event will proceed with greetings with residents, screening of district promotion videos, New Year's address, congratulatory video screening, and New Year's greetings, with performances by the Gangseo-gu Children's Choir and vocalist No Hee-seop to enhance the atmosphere.

Mayor Kim Tae-woo will deliver a New Year's address highlighting major achievements since the launch of the 8th elected administration last year and his commitment to fulfilling key pledges this year.

Last year, the district achieved remarkable results in a short 6-month period, including a breakthrough agreement on the long-standing relocation issue of the Banghwa-dong landfill, final selection of the nation's largest urban public housing complex project centered around Hwagok 2, 4, and 8-dong, and the nation's first joint civil complaint window for comprehensive real estate tax.

The goal for this year, the practical first year of the 8th elected administration, is 'regional balanced development' and 'residents' happiness.'

The district recently conducted its first organizational restructuring of the year, establishing the 'Old Town Revitalization Promotion Team' directly under the deputy mayor to accelerate the realization of a high-quality balanced city where old downtown areas including Hwagok come alive.

Going forward, the district will establish a comprehensive plan for old town revitalization to improve residential environments and infrastructure, and promote projects through a 'public-private joint committee' triad involving residents and experts.

Additionally, the district will implement the Gangseo-style postpartum care cost support project and expand public daycare centers to realize 'Gangseo, a good place to raise children,' and will speed up major projects aligned with five district administration goals, including a complete overhaul of the Heo Jun Festival, Gangseo's representative festival, with a concept completely different from before.

Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, "Gangseo-gu's passion and efforts under the 8th elected administration have been externally recognized, including being selected as the best institution in land and cadastral management and finance fields in 2022, and receiving UNICEF's higher-level certification as a child-friendly city. Like the rabbit of the Year of the Black Rabbit in 2023, I will listen well, observe well, and always do my best to make Gangseo leap forward with residents."
