Democratic Party Raises Criticism Against President Yoon
"Hope He Fears Public Sentiment Even One-Tenth as Much as Yoonshim"
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] The Democratic Party of Korea repeatedly emphasized the participation of the People Power Party in the January extraordinary session of the National Assembly in relation to the incident of a North Korean drone infiltrating the airspace over Seoul. In particular, they raised the level of criticism against President Yoon Seok-yeol.
Park Sung-jun, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, stated in a National Assembly briefing on the 8th, "President Yoon's impulsive and clumsy response is a violation of the Armistice Agreement." He pointed out that after the North Korean drone infiltration incident, President Yoon reportedly instructed to "send drones to North Korea from our military."

Spokesperson Park said, "Before discussing the September 19 military agreement, mutual violation of airspace is a violation of the Armistice Agreement," and questioned, "Did you consult with the United Nations Command in advance regarding such instructions?"
He also criticized President Yoon's order to consider suspending the effectiveness of the September 19 military agreement if North Korea commits additional provocations invading our territory. Spokesperson Park emphasized, "Does a thief’s continued theft mean the crime of theft should be abolished?" and added, "Not a single mistake can be tolerated when it comes to national security."
The Democratic Party has expressed the position that in the January extraordinary session of the National Assembly, hearings by the National Defense Committee, which is the relevant standing committee, and emergency questions in the plenary session should be held to investigate whether the military and government responses were appropriate. However, the People Power Party claims this is a 'shield' for Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party, the majority party in the National Assembly, submitted a request for convening the extraordinary session on the 6th alone. Accordingly, the January extraordinary session is scheduled to be held for 30 days starting from the 9th.
Oh Young-hwan, the floor spokesperson, said in a written briefing on the same day, "Does the People Power Party not see the red light turned on for security and the livelihood economy?" and added, "It is the duty of the National Assembly to ask why security has collapsed and what the government’s measures are to overcome the economic crisis."
He continued, "No matter how much it is a party that only looks at 'Yoon’s heart' (尹心), are you waiting for an answer from the presidential office even to convene the January extraordinary session?" and said, "If you fear public opinion even one-tenth as much as you fear Yoon’s heart, you should respond to the January extraordinary session."
