"95 out of 110 Government Bills Fail to Pass"… Ruling Party and Government Appeal to Opposition

New Year's First High-Level Party-Government Policy Coordination Meeting Opening Remarks
Chief Kim Dae-gi: "Yoon Government Year 2... Must Deliver Tangible Results"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Kim Dae-gi, Chief of Staff to the President, stated on the 8th regarding the passage of government-proposed bills, "I earnestly request the opposition parties to cooperate in a bipartisan manner."

Kim said in his opening remarks at the first high-level party-government meeting of the new year held at the National Assembly that afternoon, "Out of the 110 bills proposed by the government since its inauguration, 95 have not been passed by the National Assembly."

He continued, "I believe there is no distinction between the ruling and opposition parties when it comes to preparing for the future and creating jobs," and emphasized again, "This year marks the second year of the current administration, and it is time to produce substantial results."

Kim added, "The government has been conducting New Year's work reports by each ministry since the end of last year to respond swiftly to the rapidly changing domestic and international environment," and "Since the economy is expected to perform poorly this year, we are prioritizing investment and job creation."

He went on, "The President has ordered that 'all ministries become industrial ministries,' showing a full commitment to revitalizing the economy," and added, "Especially this year, unlike previous years, we are involving not only ministry officials but also policy demanders in the work reports to focus on developing realistic and tangible policies."

He particularly emphasized, "This year, without any elections, it is a relatively calm year to manage state affairs," and "Given the challenging economic security situation, we must never let our guard down."

Kim stated, "The Presidential Office and the executive branch will do their best to normalize abnormal malpractices hidden throughout society, establish the foundation for the three major reform tasks of labor, education, and pensions, and revive the economy," and requested, "We ask for much support from the National Assembly."
