Gwangju Dong-gu 'Youth Mental Health Support Project' Fully Launched

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 8th that it will actively promote the ‘Youth Mental Health Support Project.’

Now in its second year, the ‘Youth Mental Health Support Project’ is open to any youth aged 19 to 34 who wish to receive counseling, including youth preparing for independence, those referred by mental health welfare centers, and general youth. However, no separate income (property) criteria are applied.

Selected users of the Youth Mental Health Support can receive a total of 10 sessions of 1:1 customized professional psychological counseling over three months, including pre- and post-assessments using tools such as the MMPI-2 (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory).

Specifically, counseling is tailored to the needs of the individual and includes interventions for depression and anxiety, improvement of coping skills for relational and situational stress, communication, and interpersonal skills.

The service fee is 60,000 KRW per session for Type A and 70,000 KRW per session for Type B, with users only required to pay 10% of the cost depending on the selected service type.

The application period is from the 1st to the 20th of each month. Applicants must visit the administrative welfare center of their resident district in person with identification and priority verification documents to apply.

However, youth preparing for independence (those aged 18 or older who have aged out of child welfare facilities or whose extended protection has ended) are exempt from any personal payment regardless of the service type.
