[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will activate Emergency Level 1 starting at 8 p.m. on the 6th as heavy snow is forecasted in the northeastern region of Gyeonggi Province that evening.
Earlier, the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a preliminary heavy snow warning at 6 p.m. for 13 cities and counties in northeastern Gyeonggi, including Dongducheon, Yeoncheon, Pocheon, Gapyeong, Yangju, Uijeongbu, Guri, Namyangju, Hanam, Icheon, Yeoju, Gwangju, and Yangpyeong. The expected snowfall is 3 to 7 cm.
Emergency Level 1 will be managed by the Head of the Natural Disaster Division of Gyeonggi Province, with a total of 16 personnel working across roads, railways, and agriculture sectors.
Since rain or sleet is expected during rush hour, the province will proactively begin monitoring road snow accumulation and managing the situation starting at 6 p.m. to respond to traffic congestion.
Additionally, real-time communication will be maintained with city and county offices, road management agencies (Seoul Regional Office, Korea Expressway Corporation), and other local governments (Seoul, Incheon) to share snow removal status on key roads and mutually support with snow removal agents and other resources.
