Lee Jae-myung "Yoon Government, Worried That Verbal Bombs Might Become Real Bombs"

"North Korean Drone Breach... Absurd Security Disaster"
"Complete Review of Incompetent Policies and Replacement of Security Line Needed"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's response to the infiltration of North Korean drones on the 6th, saying, "Instead of apologizing and reflecting, they are only trying to cover up their security incompetence with harsher verbal attacks," and added, "I am worried that these verbal attacks might turn into real bombs and explode."

On the same day, at an emergency meeting of the Democratic Party's Peace and Security Countermeasures Committee held at the National Assembly in the afternoon, Lee pointed out the infiltration of North Korean drones into the no-fly zone over Yongsan, where the presidential office is located, saying, "An absurd security disaster occurred as the sky over Seoul was completely breached by North Korean drones," and criticized, "Security is being shaken to its roots due to the government's incompetence."

He also took issue with the government’s criticism of Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Byung-joo, who initially raised the possibility that North Korean drones had infiltrated the Yongsan no-fly zone, labeling Kim’s remarks as 'acts of treason.' Lee said, "They failed in surveillance and operations but still lied to the public," calling it "shocking."

At the expanded executive meeting earlier that morning, Lee also criticized, "The government vehemently denied the infiltration into the no-fly zone and even slandered the opposition’s reasonable questioning as acts of treason," calling it "the height of impudence."

Lee strongly condemned, "They recklessly introduced dangerous measures such as suspending the effectiveness of the September 19 military agreement and resuming loudspeaker broadcasts toward the North," and questioned, "Are they going to pull out the last remaining safety pin?"

He continued, "A leader should focus on reducing military tensions through meticulous security strategies and steady strengthening of defense capabilities," emphasizing, "It is time to thoroughly review these incompetent policies and replace the security line of the presidential office and the cabinet."

On the same day, the Democratic Party’s Peace and Security Countermeasures Committee demanded ▲accountability and disciplinary action against responsible figures including Defense Minister Lee Jong-seop ▲measures to prevent recurrence ▲a call for President Yoon Seok-yeol to make cautious remarks, and ▲the establishment of multifaceted solutions for inter-Korean relations.
