[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who received a summons from the prosecution over the 'Seongnam FC sponsorship fund allegations,' has decided to appear before the prosecution on the morning of the 10th. This will be the first time Lee responds to a prosecution summons since taking office.

On the 6th, Ahn Ho-young, chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, told reporters after a party members' meeting at the National Assembly, "It has been agreed that Lee will appear at the Seongnam District Prosecutors' Office at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the 10th, for an investigation into the Seongnam citizen professional football club case," adding, "As Lee has previously stated, he has already expressed his intention to appear confidently and cooperate with the investigation."

Regarding whether Lee will appear in public during the process of attending the prosecution, he responded, "We will have to wait and see how that will be handled."

Lee plans to hold a press conference to directly state his position concerning his appearance before the prosecution. On this matter, spokesperson Ahn said, "The date has not been finalized," and added, "It will probably be held before the Lunar New Year."

Earlier, on the 22nd of last month, the prosecution notified Lee that he would be summoned for investigation on the 28th regarding the Seongnam FC sponsorship fund allegations, but Lee did not attend citing local schedules.
