[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seung-jin] Wemade has won the first trial in the lawsuit filed by Actoz Soft seeking to prohibit the exercise of adaptation rights for "Legend of Mir 2."
The Intermediate People's Court of Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, China, which handled the trial, dismissed all claims made by Actoz Soft on the 6th. It clearly stated that Wemade has the right to exercise the intellectual property (IP) adaptation rights for "Legend of Mir 2."
Actoz Soft had filed a lawsuit demanding that Wemade stop granting adaptation rights related to "Legend of Mir 2" in China. They also claimed suspension of the execution of the licensing contract signed by Wemade and economic damages amounting to 5 million yuan (approximately 920 million KRW).
Through this lawsuit, Wemade has once again confirmed that there are no issues with the "Legend of Mir 2" IP licensing business. As the IP owner of "Legend of Mir 2," Wemade will continue to exercise its rightful rights and plans to accelerate the licensing business by closely collaborating with its Chinese partners.
