[Las Vegas=Reporter Choi Seoyun] “How to connect the Real World and the Virtual World to create new value for our customers is the key theme of ‘CES 2023.’”
No Junhyung, CEO of Lotte Data Communication Company, said this during a press conference on Lotte Metaverse and business strategy at CES 2023, the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition, on the 5th (local time).
He stated, “So far, major platform companies have only utilized the metaverse for communities, games, and marketing, but have not implemented it in practical areas such as retail or entertainment that help everyday life. A realistic, interactive, and creative metaverse model is the business direction we want to pursue.”
In this regard, CEO No announced plans to launch a platform for actual shopping in the metaverse within this year.
He emphasized, “We will collaborate with Lotte Group’s distribution affiliates and build a business model that generates profits even in the metaverse.” They plan to actively utilize blockchain technology and NFTs.
He also stressed the importance of Web 3.0. CEO No said, “Web 3.0 is the core of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, and its keywords are open platform, metaverse, NFT, user-generated content (UGC), P2E, and P2C.”
Lotte Group set up the Lotte Data Communication Company Metaverse Zone in the Central Hall, the main exhibition hall within the LVCC, the CES exhibition center, and unveiled the immersive metaverse platform ‘Lotte Metaverse.’
