[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution resumed its investigation on the 6th by summoning Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu), a private developer of the Daejang-dong project. This comes 23 days after the investigation was halted due to his attempted suicide.
According to the legal community, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kang Baek-shin) summoned Kim, who is suspected of concealing funds related to Daejang-dong, for questioning on the morning of the same day.
Kim attempted suicide last month on the 14th inside his car parked on a road in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, and was recently discharged from the hospital. After verifying his health condition through various channels, the prosecution determined that he has somewhat recovered and resumed the summons and investigation on this day. Since he complied with the summons, it appears that Kim has also regained psychological stability.
