Hong Nampyo, Changwon Special Mayor, Visits Traditional Temple Seongjusa to Discuss Temple Stay Hall Construction Plans Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nampyo visited Seongjusa Temple at the invitation of the head monk of Seongjusa Temple to hold a meeting.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, visited Seongjusa Temple, a traditional temple, on the afternoon of the 5th upon the invitation of Beoban, the head monk of Seongjusa Temple, and held a meeting.


The meeting was arranged to discuss difficulties in managing cultural assets at traditional temples designated as national cultural properties and to improve convenience facilities for tourists visiting the temple. Opinions on the construction of a templestay center were also exchanged.


Seongjusa Temple is a traditional temple with a long history, possessing numerous cultural assets, and is a historic temple visited by many devotees. The temple has provided its forest land to create a red clay road, which is widely used by citizens, and it also contributes to the increase of tourists visiting Changwon City.


Mayor Hong said, “We will strive to actively resolve the proposed issues,” and added, “I hope Beoban Monk will create various programs that allow people to experience Buddhist culture so that the citizens of Changwon can visit the temple more familiarly.”
