[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chunhee] Celltrion Group announced on the 6th that it supported approximately 6,400 households with about 1.4 billion KRW through various sharing projects conducted last year for underprivileged groups in the region.
The Celltrion Welfare Foundation, which is in charge of Celltrion Group’s sponsorship and support projects, reported that over the past year it provided a total of 1.44 billion KRW to underprivileged groups in Incheon and Chungbuk regions, where its major business sites are located, including ▲120.1 million KRW for underprivileged support projects ▲200 million KRW for seasonal sharing projects ▲30 million KRW for welfare facilities and public interest organizations. The cumulative support amount over the past four years has reached approximately 5 billion KRW.
In particular, last year, the foundation expanded support by increasing the number of beneficiary households for its core underprivileged support activities by more than 1,700 households compared to the previous year. Additionally, through collaboration with local governments and social welfare institutions, the sharing projects were strengthened by expanding into customized support projects tailored to the situations of underprivileged families such as basic livelihood security recipients, single-parent families, multicultural families, early marriage and unmarried families.
A representative of the Celltrion Welfare Foundation stated, “Since 2006, we have continuously carried out various social contribution activities to provide practical help to underprivileged groups in the region,” and added, “We will do our best to continue social contribution activities steadily so that we can coexist with the local community.”
Celltrion Group plans to continue expanding social contribution activities this year as well, including sharing projects, environmental management, and donation activities. In particular, Celltrion will emphasize corporate social responsibility and introduce social achievements contributed to the local community and the nation through its first sustainability management report scheduled to be published within the year.
