HDC Shilla Duty Free Appoints Yoo Chan as New Co-CEO

Duty-Free Business Expert with Extensive Experience in Duty-Free Sales and Strategic Planning

HDC Shilla Duty Free announced on the 6th that it has appointed Yoo Chan, former Seoul Store Manager and Head of Strategic Sales Team at Shilla Duty Free, as the new co-CEO.

Yoo Chan, the new co-CEO, was born in 1966 and graduated from Hanyang University with a degree in law. He earned a master's degree in Aviation Management from the Graduate School of Korea Aerospace University. He joined Hotel Shilla in 2008 as Deputy Manager of the Shilla Duty Free Incheon Airport Store in the Duty-Free Distribution Division. He subsequently served as Store Manager of the Incheon Airport Store in 2011 and the Seoul Store in 2015. Recognized for his sales achievements at both the Incheon Airport and Seoul stores, he was promoted to executive in 2017. In 2020, he took charge as Store Manager of the Shilla Duty Free Jeju Store, gaining extensive experience in the duty-free industry by managing both airport and downtown duty-free stores.

Since 2021, he has concurrently served as Store Manager of the Hotel Shilla TR Division Sales Headquarters Seoul Store and Head of the Strategic Sales Team, leading both sales and strategy organizations to expand his expertise in the duty-free business sector. The company expects Yoo, with his rich experience in the duty-free industry, to strategically lead HDC Shilla Duty Free’s business as a duty-free business expert in the new year.

Yoo, the new co-CEO, stated, "Since the end of last year, international demand for overseas travel has increased, presenting new opportunities for the duty-free business. I will do my best to make 2023, the Year of the Black Rabbit, a year of resurgence for Shilla I'Park Duty Free."
