[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Lotte Card has launched a card product that offers major living expense discounts at places such as marts, gas stations, and hospitals.

On the 6th, Lotte Card announced the release of the 'Lotte Mart & MAXX Card' in collaboration with Lotte Mart. This card is characterized by its focus on so-called ‘living expense diet’ benefits.

First, when paying at nationwide Lotte Mart, warehouse discount stores MAXX, VIC Market, and online Lotte Mart Mall, users receive up to a 10% discount (up to 30,000 KRW) based on the previous month's usage amount. Discounts are also available at Lotte Mart’s ‘Zeta Flex’ and toy store ‘Toys "R" Us’.

The card also offers a 5% discount benefit in five major living sectors: hospitals, pharmacies, animal hospitals, gas stations, transportation, mobile communications, and streaming services. Depending on the previous month’s usage, users can receive up to 25,000 KRW per month (5,000 KRW per sector) in discounts.

Additional promotional benefits are being offered to coincide with the launch. First, the discount limit at Lotte Mart and MAXX stores is increased to a maximum of 50,000 KRW. Regardless of the previous month’s usage, if you spend over 50,000 KRW, you can enjoy 2 to 3 months of interest-free installments. Other benefits include monthly exclusive instant discounts and special priced products. Until the 1st of next month, a 50% instant discount on all strawberry items, 50% on shrimp, and 20% on pork belly will be held at all nationwide Lotte Mart and MAXX stores.

There are also various living expense discounts. Regardless of the previous month’s usage, a 2,000 KRW monthly discount is provided on apartment management fees. A 0.5% discount benefit at domestic and international affiliated stores is also offered up to a maximum of 5,000 KRW per month.

Additionally, for members who have had no Lotte personal credit card payment history in the past six months, a 30% discount up to 30,000 KRW (once per person) is provided on their first use of this card at Lotte Mart. All discount benefits apply to transactions of 5,000 KRW or more per purchase.

The annual fee for this card is 18,000 KRW for domestic use only and 20,000 KRW for international use (MASTER). Card applications can be made through the Lotte Card Digiroca application (app), website, customer center, Lotte Card centers inside Lotte Mart stores, and the ‘We Will Help You’ center.

A Lotte Card official stated, “This is a private label credit card (PLCC) product jointly planned by both companies to reduce customers’ living expense burdens in an era of high inflation.” He added, “Going forward, both companies plan to continue various joint marketing efforts exclusively for Lotte Mart & MAXX Card customers based on mutual member analysis data.”
