[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The reconstruction of six apartment complexes in the Yongin area of Gyeonggi Province has been confirmed.
Yongin City announced on the 6th that following the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's implementation of the revised "Safety Inspection Standards for Reconstruction Judgments" on the 5th, reconstruction has become possible for six locations: Choein-gu Gongsin Yeonrip, Giheung-gu Gugal Hanseong 1st Apartment, Gugal Hanseong 2nd Apartment, Suji-gu Samsung 4th Apartment, Suji Hanseong Apartment, and Samsung 2nd Apartment.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport previously lowered the weight of structural safety in the evaluation criteria for reconstruction judgments from 50% to 30%. Until now, the high weight on structural safety made it rare for apartment complexes to pass the safety inspection for reconstruction.
The weight for residential environment was increased from 15% to 30%, and the weight for facility aging was raised from 25% to 30%.
In particular, the evaluation score range that determines whether reconstruction is possible was significantly lowered. Previously, a score of 30 or below was required for reconstruction eligibility, but with the revised standards, a score of 45 or below now qualifies for reconstruction. The conditional reconstruction range was also adjusted from 30-55 points to 45-55 points.
According to the changes in standards, each complex received evaluation scores of 45 or below, thus qualifying for reconstruction.
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, stated, "With the relaxation of safety inspection regulations, an environment has been created where old apartments can proceed with reconstruction smoothly. We will continue to do our best to provide administrative services that satisfy citizens amid the rapidly increasing demand for reconstruction and enhance the city's dignity through maintenance projects."
