On the 6th, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced that it is calling for candidates for the ‘Family Policy Meritorious Government Awards’ to discover citizens who have devoted themselves to improving the welfare of diverse families and contributed to spreading an equal family culture.

This government award candidate must be an individual or organization that has been dedicated to supporting various families and improving family culture in the field of family policy, local communities, or homes, with a minimum activity period of two years.

Anyone can recommend candidates, and recommendation letters can be submitted by mail or email until the 3rd of next month. Those recommended will undergo public verification and merit review processes before being finally selected as award recipients, who will receive their awards at the Family Month ceremony in May 2023.

The awards include government honors totaling 15 points: Order of Merit (1 point), Medal of Honor (1 point), Presidential Commendation (5 points), Prime Minister's Commendation (8 points), and 70 points of Minister of Gender Equality and Family Commendations, totaling 85 points.

Kim Hyun-sook, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, said, “Those who quietly dedicate themselves to ensuring ‘no one in the family is left behind’ throughout society are the main actors in creating a country where families, the foundation of our society, are happy. I hope many people actively recommend candidates so that the lives and untold stories of those who continue warm companionship with diverse families can be fully highlighted through the government awards.”
