46 Award Categories with 720 Million KRW in Project Funding
57 Public Contests Selected, Securing a Record High of 110.4 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, received 46 awards in the 2022 central and provincial policy evaluations, securing project funds of 720 million KRW and having 57 public contest projects selected, thereby securing a record-breaking total project budget of 110.4 billion KRW. This remarkable achievement has been recognized as a successful start to the 8th term of the civilian administration.
The greatest achievements include Geochang-gun's first-ever selection of Geochang Anti-Aging Healing Land in the Korea Tourism Top 100, and ranking first nationwide among counties with a 10.79% improvement rate in the traffic safety index announced by the Road Traffic Authority.
The county received awards in 26 fields from central government ministries, including ▲Best in Resident Participation Budget System Evaluation (Ministry of the Interior and Safety) ▲Excellent Local Government Innovation Evaluation (Ministry of the Interior and Safety) ▲Outstanding Institution for Lifelong Education Merit (Ministry of Education) ▲Outstanding Institution for Real Estate Ownership Special Measures Act Work Merit (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport) ▲Best in Waste Disposal Project and Facility Evaluation (Ministry of Environment).
In Gyeongnam Province, Geochang-gun won awards in 13 fields such as ▲Four consecutive years of awards in joint evaluation of major city and county tasks ▲Excellence in comprehensive local tax evaluation ▲Best in volunteer competition ▲Excellent county in Gyeongsangnam-do Eulji Exercise city and county evaluation ▲Excellent county in forest fire prevention and response evaluation ▲First place county in carbon neutrality practice evaluation.
Additionally, from other major external institutions, Geochang-gun received seven awards including ▲Youth-Friendly Legislative Grand Prize Policy Award (National Assembly Secretariat) ▲Selection for Discovery and Promotion of Gyeongnam Small but Strong Potential Tourist Sites (Korea Tourism Organization) ▲Excellent Facility in Operation Management Evaluation of Completed Facilities by Technical Team (Korea Environment Corporation), thereby enhancing the county’s prestige by demonstrating outstanding administrative capabilities across all fields.
In the public contest project sector, 57 projects were selected, including the largest-ever single project, the 43 billion KRW Rural Agreement public contest project, the 18 billion KRW Organic Complex, and the 25 billion KRW Dongsan Village Maintenance Project, a 50-year resident wish project, securing a total project budget of 110.4 billion KRW, providing strong momentum for further growth.
In central government contests, 30 projects were selected, including ▲Industrial Complex Package Support Project (5.6 billion KRW) ▲Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project (3.1 billion KRW) ▲Gabuk-myeon Plus Residential Platform Construction Project (2 billion KRW) ▲Dormitory Construction for Foreign Agricultural Workers (1.5 billion KRW) ▲2022 Performance Improvement Support Project for Aging Infrastructure (1 billion KRW), securing a total budget of 102.4 billion KRW.
In Gyeongnam Province contests, 19 projects were selected, securing 6.6 billion KRW, including representative projects such as ▲Regional Representative Performing Arts Festival Support Project (1.1 billion KRW) ▲Functional Sprouted Mixed Grain Production Facility Installation Project (500 million KRW) ▲LPG Small Storage Tank Supply Project (330 million KRW) ▲CPTED Safe Alley Creation Project (200 million KRW) ▲Gyeongnam-type New Deal Excellent Project (200 million KRW).
Other achievements include selection in various public contest projects such as ▲Geochang-gun Water Welfare Improvement Project Using Renewable Energy (900 million KRW) ▲KB Small Library Construction Project (90 million KRW), providing momentum for advancing current projects.
