[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated on the 5th that he will "strive to improve Korea-Japan relations."


According to local media, Prime Minister Kishida made this remark after receiving a report on the visit to Korea by Komeito Party leader Natsuo Yamaguchi. Leader Yamaguchi reported the details of his meeting with President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 29th of last month at the Prime Minister's Office. This fact was disclosed by Leader Yamaguchi to the press corps.


At the meeting with Leader Yamaguchi, President Yoon proposed, "The two countries must closely cooperate on security in response to North Korean provocations," and added, "Let us also work together to promptly resolve the pending issues in Korea-Japan relations."


Leader Yamaguchi also responded, "Trilateral cooperation among Korea, the US, and Japan is very important to respond to North Korea's provocations."
