Changwon Fire Headquarters Announces Fire Incident Statistics Results
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] The Changwon Fire Headquarters in Gyeongnam announced the fire occurrence statistics for last year within Changwon city.
According to the statistics, there were 603 fire incidents last year, averaging 1.7 dispatches per day, protecting the safety of citizens.
The causes of fires were highest due to negligence with 261 cases, followed by electrical causes with 140 cases, unknown causes with 94 cases, and mechanical causes with 68 cases.
The locations where fires occurred most frequently were residential houses, followed by outdoors, vehicles, and factories.
Last year, there were 29 casualties due to fires (2 deaths, 27 injuries), and property damage amounted to 6,150,200,000 KRW. Monthly analysis of casualties showed that January had the highest number of victims, and fires mostly occurred between 3 PM and 5 PM.
Compared to 2021, the number of fire incidents increased by 70 cases (13.1%), while casualties decreased by one person, and property damage increased by 2,755,970,000 KRW (81.2%).
The fire incident with the greatest casualties was a traffic accident fire on the road in Jukgok-dong, Jinhae-gu in January, resulting in 2 deaths. The largest property damage was caused by a factory fire in Seongsan-dong, Seongsan-gu, with damages amounting to approximately 2.2 billion KRW.
Kim Yong-jin, the Fire Headquarters Chief, said, “Only by preparing in advance can fire damage be reduced,” and added, “We will do our utmost to conduct thorough safety inspections and fire response to protect the lives and property of citizens from fires.”
