Hankook Tire Delivers 'Light of Hope' to Overseas Neighbors Facing Energy Poverty

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hankook Tire & Technology (hereinafter Hankook Tire) announced on the 5th that it conducted a volunteer activity for employees and executives to assemble solar lanterns for children in energy-poor countries in collaboration with the Milal Welfare Foundation.

The solar lantern assembly is an eco-friendly energy sharing campaign that helps children in energy-poor countries with nighttime studying and safety while walking at night. The solar lantern is an eco-friendly lighting device that can be charged by sunlight and used for up to 12 hours.

This volunteer activity was conducted in a "hands-on" manner, where employees and executives assembled donated items themselves. It was organized to provide an opportunity to experience the value of sharing and coexistence in daily life by making solar lanterns during lunch breaks at the company or at home with family.

Hankook Tire employees and their families will assemble a total of 600 solar lantern kits and collect letters containing messages of hope over about a month from December 22, 2022, to January 20, 2023, and deliver them to neighbors in energy-poor overseas communities.

Hankook Tire continues to actively fulfill its corporate social responsibility by carrying out volunteer activities for various marginalized groups and local communities. Especially this year, it is actively promoting social contribution programs in which employees directly participate, such as "voice donation," "creating our forest," and "mural painting," practicing sincere sharing and the value of coexistence.
