Production and Broadcast of "Living Busan History: Prehistoric Edition" Video

'Seonsa IN Busan? The Beginning of the Maritime Capital' Documentary Broadcast ‘Prehistoric IN Busan? The Beginning of the Maritime Capital’ Documentary Title Video.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Busan Museum will produce and broadcast a high-quality, high-definition historical documentary titled "Prehistoric IN Busan: The Beginning of the Maritime Capital" on LG HelloVision Channel 25 at 7 PM on the 9th.

This documentary is the first result of the "Five-Year Plan for Producing Living Busan Historical Videos," and it was planned to vividly convey to citizens the status and historicity of Busan as a maritime capital continuing from prehistoric times, focusing on the theme of "Maritime culture of prehistoric Busan people centered on the sea and Korea-Japan exchange."

In the upcoming broadcast "Prehistoric IN Busan: The Beginning of the Maritime Capital," the focus is on representative prehistoric sites, remains, and artifacts excavated and investigated in Busan from the Paleolithic to the Bronze Age, highlighting Busan's historical and cultural characteristics and distinctiveness.

The documentary sensually depicts how the prehistoric people of Busan, from the Paleolithic era onward, adapted to and overcame the enormous obstacle of the "sea," which appeared due to changes in climate and environment, using various techniques such as CG videos and sand animation.

Notably, despite difficult circumstances, active cooperation from Japanese related organizations was secured to conduct on-site filming in Japan, aiming to trace the prehistoric Busan people who pioneered the sea route to northern Kyushu, Japan, after the Neolithic period and formed a new network of maritime exchange between Korea and Japan. This aspect is particularly noteworthy.

The documentary includes representative Japanese prehistoric sites and artifacts that offer a glimpse into prehistoric Korea-Japan exchanges, as well as museums, exhibition halls, and interviews with Japanese researchers, striving to present a more dynamic history of Korea-Japan exchange to the citizens.

The documentary will be broadcast for 40 minutes starting at 7 PM on the 9th through LG HelloVision (Channel 25), a comprehensive cable broadcasting station, covering the Busan and Gyeongnam areas, and will then be made available on various platforms such as the museum’s website, YouTube, and social networking services (SNS).

In particular, DVDs containing the video will be distributed to local governments, educational institutions, and libraries to be shared and utilized as educational materials for future generations.

Director Eunwoo Jeong of the museum stated, "Busan has grown as a hub of a Northeast Asian maritime city from prehistoric times through ancient and medieval periods to the present," adding, "I hope this documentary broadcast will be a great opportunity to widely inform Busan citizens that the beginning of that history is the prehistoric culture created by the prehistoric people of Busan centered on the 'sea.'"
