New Confirmed Cases 64,106, Down 7,321 from Last Week...571 Severe Cases (Update) On the afternoon of the 2nd, when the mandatory COVID-19 testing for arrivals from China began, passengers were filling out health questionnaires at the Incheon Airport arrival hall.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The winter resurgence of COVID-19 has entered a gradual decline phase. The number of critically ill patients has decreased to the 500s after four days.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 5th at midnight that 64,106 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the cumulative total to 29,363,272.


The number of new cases on this day decreased by 14,469 from the previous day (78,575) and by 7,321 compared to a week ago on the 29th (71,427). The scale of cases has been declining for nine consecutive days since the 28th of last month. Imported cases increased by 22 to 194 compared to the previous day.


The number of critically ill patients hospitalized decreased by 52 from the previous day to 571, dropping into the 500s. There were 66 additional deaths. The cumulative death toll stands at 32,421, with a fatality rate of 0.11%.


As of midnight on this day, the additional winter vaccination rate was 31.2% for those aged 60 and over, and 54.8% for infection-vulnerable facilities.
