Providing Practical Training Opportunities at Stores for Successful Interviewees
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Starbucks Korea announced on the 5th that it will publicly recruit baristas with disabilities in the first quarter of this year in collaboration with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled.
Applications will be accepted through the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled's employment portal for people with disabilities until the 15th.
Applicants who pass the document screening will undergo an interview process, and those who pass the interview will undergo a practical training period of up to three weeks at Starbucks stores. The practical training method will be conducted according to the type of disability, and after the final evaluation, they will join in March and work at stores nationwide.
Starbucks, which has been hiring baristas with disabilities since 2007, signed an employment promotion agreement with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled in 2012, the first in the industry.
As of January this year, 462 partners with disabilities are working at Starbucks stores nationwide, of which 392 have severe disabilities and 70 have mild disabilities. The legally recognized number of disabled partners, counting severe disabilities as double, is 854, making the employment rate about 4% of all employees.
