Ulsan Tourism Incentives 'Pakkak'... Revamping Support System to Attract Domestic and International Tourists

Ulsan Tourism Incentives 'Pakkak'... Revamping Support System to Attract Domestic and International Tourists 2023 Tourist Attraction Incentive Support Details.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City is reforming its incentive support system to attract tourists and will implement it starting this year.

Ulsan City announced the revamped ‘2023 Domestic and International Tourist Attraction Incentive Support System’ on the 5th.

The domestic and international tourist attraction incentives are policies that encourage the development of stay-type tourism products by providing a certain amount of support when travel agencies and tourist hotel businesses attract tourists who use tourist attractions, restaurants, accommodations, etc., in accordance with the Tourism Promotion Act.

This year’s revised system is known to focus on ‘expanding the attraction of overseas tourists’ following the recovery trend of international tourism demand and ‘creating new demand’ through customized support for consumers.

The areas supported with benefits include ▲accommodation fees ▲bus fees (day tours) ▲experience fees ▲rental fees ▲corporate and institutional visit support ▲overseas promotion expenses, and incentives are provided to the relevant accommodation businesses if the support conditions for each sector are met.

In the case of accommodation incentives, benefits for foreign tourists are strengthened compared to the previous year.

Foreigners receive up to 30,000 KRW per person based on the use of tourist attractions and restaurants by groups of five or more, while domestic tourists receive 10,000 KRW per person when visiting at least two tourist attractions and one restaurant in groups of eight or more. Payments are based on one night’s stay and support is provided for up to three nights.

Additionally, day tour bus fee support applies to groups of 12 or more tourists. Payments vary by the number of people, ranging from 150,000 KRW (per day) up to 350,000 KRW.

This measure aims to increase stay-type accommodation tourists rather than day tours, and the group size requirement has been raised compared to the previous year. When accommodation or day support criteria are met, up to 20,000 KRW or 50% of the experience fee can also be supported.

Support for rental and shared vehicle use has lowered entry barriers by removing railway and airline connection procedures and simplifying submission documents. A new ‘corporate and institutional visit support item’ has been established, providing 5,000 KRW per person when the tourism schedule includes visits to local companies and institutions.

Support for overseas promotion expenses for tourism products that include at least one night’s stay in Ulsan, as well as incentives for attracting charter flights and domestic cruises, will also be actively promoted.

Seo Dae-sung, Director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, “At the point when international tourism is resuming, we have revamped the benefit system to expand stay-type tourism products for domestic tourists and foreign group tourists, and we plan to carry out active marketing.”
