[Asia Economy Las Vegas (USA) = Reporter Park Sun-mi] "The beginning and end of all innovation is the customer, and through that innovation, we will make the world smile."

On the 4th (local time), a day before the opening of CES 2023, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, LG Electronics President Jo Joo-wan confidently revealed his future vision in Las Vegas, USA, which centered on the 'customer.' At the press conference held under the theme ‘Life’s Good,’ he told over 1,000 domestic and international journalists, industry officials, and visitors, “Over the past three years, we have gone through many challenges but were able to overcome them without fatigue,” adding, “This was because we always believed that the answer lies with the customer.”

President Jo introduced LG Electronics' innovative achievements aimed at expanding customer experience. Representative examples include the OLED TV celebrating its 10th anniversary, the automotive parts solution business that has entered a growth trajectory as a future growth engine after more than a decade of challenges, and the UP appliances like the ‘MoodUP Refrigerator’ that evolve according to individual lifestyles.

President Jo said, “We were the first to start OLED TV, which no one had imagined before, and completely changed the TV viewing experience,” adding, “As a result, LG OLED TV is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and we are now looking forward to another decade.” LG Electronics launched the world’s first OLED TV in 2013, leading a revolution in a higher level of viewing experience and TV design that had never existed before.

He promised to continue providing the best (F), unique (U), and never-before-seen (N) F?U?N customer experiences to realize a better life. He also said that through this, LG Electronics will introduce a wider variety of smart life solutions.

At the conference, President Jo also revealed plans to further advance the business portfolio by continuing investments in core technologies and collaborations with external partners. He explained, “We are increasing investments in core technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and 6G, while expanding our business portfolio into many areas including electric vehicle charging, digital health, and webOS-based content services.”

He continued, “No company can do everything alone, so we are actively seeking collaboration with strategic partners worldwide,” citing the example of the North American Innovation Center (LG NOVA). Established by LG Electronics in late 2020 in Silicon Valley, USA, LG NOVA collaborates with startups from around the world to explore new business possibilities for the future in fields such as electric vehicle charging, digital health, and automotive parts solutions.

Finally, President Jo emphasized, “Innovation is not for its own sake but to truly provide a better life and make customers smile,” adding, “We will continue innovation with the belief that the answer is always with the customer.”
