Former Cheong Administrative Officer Kim Myung-jin: "Removing 5·18 from Curriculum is an Atrocity"

President Yoon Seok-yeol Urged to Clarify the Circumstances of the Removal of 5·18 from the Curriculum

Former Cheong Administrative Officer Kim Myung-jin: "Removing 5·18 from Curriculum is an Atrocity"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Former Blue House administrator Kim Myung-jin strongly criticized the deletion of the May 18 Democratic Movement from the 2022 revised curriculum.

On the 4th, former administrator Kim said, "The May 18 Democratic Movement has long been recognized and commemorated not only in Korea but worldwide," adding, "The California State Legislature also designated it as an official commemorative day on August 7 last year."

He continued, "President Yoon Seok-yeol promised to enshrine the 'May 18 spirit as the spirit of liberal democracy' in the Constitution," but "the Yoon administration deleted May 18 from the curriculum. This is an outrageous act comparable to Ji Man-won's defamation of May 18."

He also urged, "This is a conspiracy to erase the May 18 Democratic Movement from the minds of elementary, middle, and high school generations. President Yoon must immediately apologize and make corrections," and "The Ministry of Education must clearly explain the circumstances of the deletion, hold those responsible accountable, and order restoration to the original state."
