Dong-Eui Science University President Kim Young-do Appointed as Head of Delegation for 2023 Lake Placid Winter World University Games President Kim Young-do of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, appointed as the head of the Korean delegation for the 2023 Summer World University Games.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Kim Young-do, president of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, has been appointed as the head of the South Korean delegation participating in this year's Winter World University Games.


The 2023 31st Lake Placid Winter World University Games will be held from the 12th to the 22nd in Lake Placid, New York, USA.


The South Korean delegation, led by head Kim Young-do, plans to send a total of 85 athletes competing in five sports: 1 biathlon athlete, 9 curlers, 29 ice skaters, 23 skiers, and 23 ice hockey players.


This event marks the first normal hosting of the Winter World University Games since the 30th Lucerne Winter Universiade in 2021 was canceled due to the spread of COVID-19.


The games will begin with an opening ceremony on the 12th and conclude with a closing ceremony on the 22nd, wrapping up a ten-day schedule.


Before dispatching to the games, Kim Young-do, president of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, stated, "We will make special efforts to ensure health and safety through COVID-19 prevention measures and compliance with safety protocols so that everyone can safely complete the games and return home," adding, "We will do our best to manage and support the safety of the athletes."


At this Winter World University Games, over 1,400 athletes from more than 50 countries will compete in 5 sports and 12 detailed events, aiming for 86 gold medals.
