[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Members of the Seo-gu Council in Gwangju Metropolitan City began their first official schedule of 2023 with a visit to the National May 18th Democratic Cemetery.
The Seo-gu council members welcomed the New Year by volunteering to serve meals at the Seo-gu Disabled Welfare Center following their visit to the National May 18th Democratic Cemetery, the council announced on the 4th.
Chairperson Ko Kyung-ae said, “To honor the noble spirit of the May heroes who dedicated themselves to democracy on this land, more than 30 Seo-gu council members and staff offered flowers and incense.”
She added, “We prayed for the souls of the May martyrs who sacrificed their lives shouting for democracy against the military dictatorship’s guns and blades, and reflected on the spirit of the May 18th Democratic Movement.”
Following this, the Seo-gu council members carried out a meaningful schedule by volunteering to serve meals at the Seo-gu Disabled Welfare Center.
