[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Yi-gang) announced on the 4th that it has formed an emergency pothole repair team to fix the rapidly increasing road potholes caused by snow removal work conducted during this winter's record-breaking cold wave and heavy snowfall.
Seo-gu has organized two teams to carry out pothole repair work on approximately 230 km of district-managed roads until the 13th. Sections with severe depressions will undergo emergency repairs followed by road paving to prevent safety accidents among residents.
A Seo-gu official stated, "We will prioritize and promptly complete pothole repairs, and for major arterial roads with severe damage such as Seochang Intersection, we will invest a budget of 2 billion won to conduct full repaving, striving to provide residents with a comfortable traffic environment."
Meanwhile, last month, Seo-gu carried out snow removal operations on major arterial and side roads with the cooperation of public officials and residents amid an unprecedented snowfall of about 40 cm in Gwangju.
