BioInfra Life Sciences Develops Targeted Drug Delivery Technology for Cancer Treatment

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Bioinfra Life Sciences announced on the 4th that it has developed a targeted drug delivery technology for cancer treatment that can maximize effectiveness without side effects using a small amount of anticancer drugs.

Bioinfra Life Sciences has been researching targeted drug delivery technology for years to achieve anticancer effects without side effects. Recently, by developing focused ultrasound technology that can non-invasively deliver energy to specific areas inside the human body and drug delivery carriers responsive to this ultrasound energy, the company succeeded in developing a platform technology capable of targeted drug delivery using various anticancer drugs.

Lee Deok-yoon, CEO of Bioinfra Life Sciences, explained, "If this platform technology is applied clinically, the amount of drug delivered to cancer cells increases compared to general anticancer drugs, so a relatively small amount of anticancer drug can be expected to have a high anticancer effect while minimizing side effects."

He added, "This technology can be applied not only to anticancer drugs but also to therapeutics that are difficult to apply clinically due to drug toxicity or side effects, providing versatility for use in various treatment fields. We expect it to achieve good results as a drug delivery technology in the future."

The research and development results obtained during the development of this platform technology were published in the international academic journal Micro & Nano Letters in the third quarter of last year. The core technology has been patented not only in Korea but also in the United States, and four additional new patents have been filed through continuous research and development.

Based on this technological capability, Bioinfra Life Sciences has completed cell experiments and started animal experiments this year. It also plans to jointly conduct clinical trials with domestic and international pharmaceutical companies producing anticancer drugs.
