[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province is set to conduct safety inspections on multi-use facilities such as large retail stores, movie theaters, and passenger terminals, where heavy user traffic is expected ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

On the 4th, Suwon City announced that by the 16th of this month, it will carry out a "Lunar New Year Multi-use Facility Safety Management Inspection" targeting 33 multi-use facilities in the city in cooperation with related organizations including the city’s Safety Management Expert Group, Suwon and Suwon Southern Fire Stations, and the Korea Electrical and Gas Safety Corporation.

The main safety inspection items include ▲ safety management and maintenance of facilities such as cracks and leaks ▲ legally mandated regular inspections of electrical, gas, and elevator facilities ▲ management of fire-fighting equipment and evacuation facilities such as fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and fire doors ▲ safety measures for users and ability to respond to emergency situations.

The city plans to immediately demand correction of minor issues found during the inspection, and for issues requiring time due to budget or other reasons, emergency measures will be taken followed by continuous monitoring until the risk factors are resolved.

Additionally, the city will actively identify and disseminate exemplary safety management cases.

A city official emphasized, "Suwon City conducts safety management inspections every year during holidays to ensure citizens can use multi-use facilities in a safe environment. This year as well, we will do our best to prevent safety accidents so that citizens can spend quality time with their families."
