Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Gijae Sends New Year Greetings to Senior Citizens at Senior Centers

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, visited senior centers located in Mok 1-dong and Mok 3-dong on the afternoon of the 3rd to extend New Year's greetings to the elderly.

As his first public welfare activity of the new year, Mayor Lee Gi-jae will visit 21 senior centers in the district over three days starting January 3rd to meet with local seniors.

On this day, Mayor Lee visited Mansu Senior Center in Mok 1-dong and Mokdong 2nd Seongwon Senior Center in Mok 3-dong, personally performed the traditional New Year's bow (sebae) to the elders, and exchanged well-wishes. He said, "I will carefully ensure that senior centers, which are the main living spaces for the elderly, become warm places that enrich their daily lives."

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, held a donation ceremony for the Warm Winter Support at the Gongneung-dong Dokkaebi Market in the mayor’s office at 10:30 a.m. on the 3rd.

On this day, the Gongneung-dong Dokkaebi Market Merchants Association donated 2.5 million won collected from its members, hoping it will help neighbors in need.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok, Chairman Park Yong-seon, Vice Chairman Park Seok-hee, General Manager Yang Yoo-jong, Director Oh Jeong-mi, and Director Kim Seong-ju of the Cultural Tourism Market Development Project Team. The event proceeded with the donation handover followed by a commemorative photo session.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok expressed his gratitude, saying, "I appreciate the Merchants Association for taking the lead every year in good causes and extending a helping hand to neighbors in difficulty." He added, "This will be a great support to neighbors suffering from the double hardship of the cold wave and prolonged COVID-19."
