Kia Sold 2,903,619 Vehicles Last Year... "4.6% Increase Compared to 2021" Kia announced on the 3rd that it sold a total of 2,903,619 vehicles worldwide, including 541,068 units domestically and 2,362,551 units overseas last year. Compared to 2021, domestic and overseas sales increased by 1.1% and 5.4%, respectively.

By model, the Sportage was the best-selling vehicle globally with 452,068 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 310,418 units and the Sorento with 222,570 units.


The best-selling vehicle in the domestic market was the Sorento, with 68,902 units sold, followed by the Bongo III (64,826 units) and the Carnival (59,058 units). Passenger car models sold a total of 180,684 units, including the K8 with 45,650 units, Ray with 44,566 units, K5 with 31,498 units, and Morning with 29,380 units.


RV models, including the Sorento and Carnival, sold a total of 292,425 units, with the Sportage at 55,394 units and the Seltos at 43,095 units.


In overseas markets, the Sportage sold 396,674 units, followed by the Seltos with 267,323 units and the K3 with 201,037 units.


Kia plans to actively explore markets and customers this year through strategies such as establishing core regional market entry plans, successful development of PBVs and flexible mass production systems, and developing products and solutions that proactively reflect customer needs.


Based on this, Kia has set a global sales target of 3.2 million units this year, with 585,120 units domestically and 2,614,880 units overseas.


A Kia official stated, “Despite the challenging business environment last year due to the resurgence of COVID-19, semiconductor supply disruptions, and logistics crises, global sales grew thanks to flexible semiconductor allocation, adjustments in vehicle production schedules, and the launch of competitive new models such as the 2nd generation Niro and the The New Seltos.”


He added, “This year, we will continue to pursue challenges for change and innovation, including enhancing brand value, internalizing a customer-centric organizational culture, establishing a PBV business execution system, and launching the EV flagship model (EV9).”
