Korea GM, 264,875 Units Sold in 2022... "11.7% Increase YoY"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Korea GM announced on the 3rd that it sold a total of 264,875 units in the domestic and export markets last year, an increase of 11.7% compared to the previous year. Overseas sales, which drove the sales increase in 2022, recorded 227,638 units. This is a 24.6% increase compared to the previous year as the global vehicle semiconductor chip supply issue eased.

Korea GM's total sales in the domestic and overseas markets in December were 23,752 units, a 75.5% increase compared to 13,531 units in the same month of the previous year. December overseas sales recorded a total of 21,912 units, a 99.0% increase compared to the same month last year. This marked nine consecutive months of growth compared to the same period last year. In particular, the Chevrolet Trailblazer recorded its highest monthly sales this year with a total of 21,349 units sold in the export market, a 308.1% increase compared to the same month last year, along with its sibling model, the Buick Encore GX.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer sold a total of 169,937 units in 2022, including 14,561 units in the domestic market and 155,376 units in the export market, making it the best-selling vehicle of the Chevrolet brand in 2022. The Trailblazer has received high praise from domestic and international consumers, recognized for its outstanding product quality and excellent price-performance ratio, and was acknowledged by several reputable global institutions for its superior product quality last year.

Additionally, the Chevrolet brand expanded product choices for domestic customers and strengthened its position as an imported brand in the domestic market by maintaining steady sales of authentic American-style premium imported products such as the Colorado, Traverse, and Tahoe throughout 2022.

Carlos Minert, Vice President of Sales and Service at Korea GM, said, "We thank the customers who have shown trust and support to GM throughout last year," and added, "In the new year of 2023, GM plans to introduce a wider variety of products through the Chevrolet brand and another global GMC brand." He continued, "We plan to further strengthen our position as an American brand through qualitative and quantitative growth based on a more differentiated product lineup and enhanced customer experience, including the launch of various new imported premium vehicles."
